Book Review: The Best Yes

As a mom of four and a wife I have a lot on my plate.  There are always things to do with things I want to do but don’t have time to get done.  Are you like me, are you stressed and overwhelmed by your schedule and how many things are on your plate?  Do you have a hard time telling people “no” when they ask for your help?  Do you feel obligated to saying yes to everything that anyone asks of you?

If this sounds like you I recommend you read “The Best Yes” by Lysa Terkeurst.  Lysa talks about the different ways to help you make the best choices for you.  “Knowledge is Wisdom that comes from acquiring truth.  Insight is wisdom that comes from living out the truth we acquire.  Discernment is wisdom that comes from the holy Spirit’s reminder of that knowledge and insight.” Help you determine what you would be able to fully commit to and not let that person down.  “The decisions you make determine the schedule you keep.  The schedule you keep determines the life you live.  And how you live your life determines how you live your life determines how you spend your soul.”  “Do I have the resources to handle this request along with my current responsibilities? Could this fit: physically? Financially? Spiritually? Emotionally?”  She also discusses the best and nicest way to decline someone.  Now this book is focused around God.  Even if you don’t believe in God but can get past reading about him.  This book has a lot that can help someone make the best yes for them.  I highly recommend reading it.  “A Best Yes is a wise yes.  And wisdom needs to be practiced day after day if we are going to know how to apply it to the Best Yes decisions when they come.”
