Our 2018 Memory Jar

Recently a friend and I were sharing about how quickly life goes and how fast our littles are growing up. Wouldn’t it be great if we could stop time for a bit during certain times of our lives? Or forever remember all the great times?

Unfortunately, we can’t do either. 😦 At least I can’t, ….my mom brain has made it almost impossible to remember what I ate yesterday, let alone things that happened a year ago!

The same friend I mentioned earlier had the brilliant idea to start a yearly memory jar. Happy tidbits that happen throughout the year gets placed in the jar and then as a family, on New Year’s Day, they read through all their memories of the previous year. 🙂 So sweet and so life affirming! I had to get on board with this idea and, thus 2018 began our first year of the Memory Jar!

I can’t wait to read through all these sweet memories at the end of this year. My prayer is that it’ll be plump full by 2019 with many, many happy tidbits!

What are some ways that you preserve memories? I’d love to hear about them.

Happy adventures!

  1. I like the idea of a memory jar a lot. I have a little series on my blog I call “Awesome Nuggets” that acts as my roughly quarterly round up of all kinds of cool or interesting or inspiring things that I’ve seen in the weeks preceding the post. I like that posting it on my blog reminds me to keep a list in my head and an accountability for sharing them. Plus, it gives me the chance to share gratitude and affirm the awesome things I’ve seen others do in a public-ish way. But for private moments, a memory jar is an awesome idea! Looking forward to seeing how it works for you!
